Nursing’s Role in Safeguarding Quality and Safety

Abstract

The new health care reform law, the impact of technological innovations, workforce transitions, and a growing, aging population are propelling health system change. In every setting where health care is delivered—from clinics to hospitals to schools and in homes—nurses are central to the design and adoption of innovations needed to assure the quality and safety of care provided in this changing health care system.
