Nursing Honor Society Launches Geriatric Care Center

Abstract

Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) has launched the Center for Nursing Excellence in Long-Term Care^TM in an effort to help meet the demand for health care providers, especially nurses, that has been created by the world's aging population.

The Center's goal is to support the knowledge, professional development and leadership growth of nurses who provide care to older adults in skilled nursing facilities.  As frontline nurses, these professionals will need an education and knowledge base that will prepare them to care for older adults who have complex health needs.  Strengthening the professional practice of registered nurses will result in quality care and a better life for health care consumers in skilled nursing facilities.
