National Council of State Boards of Nursing Urges Adoption of Uniform APRN Standards
Nursing organizations from across the country came together in San Diego, January 12-13, to discuss the state of APRN licensures and regulations. Attendees discussed options for how to adopt a licensing and regulation model that already has national consensus and could potentially be implemented nation-wide by 2015. At the meeting, Susan C. Reinhard, RN, PhD, FAAN, senior vice president and director, AARP Public Policy Institute and chief strategist, Center to Champion Nursing in America, said, “We commend the National Council of State Boards of Nursing for their efforts to offer consumers this assurance by working with experts across the states to agree on what it takes to deliver care at the APRN level.” AARP is committed to consumers having access to APRNs who can deliver high-quality care.
