High Demand for Nurses to Continue Despite Current Downtrend
The Commercial Appeal reports that the looming shortage predicted for the nursing profession by 2025 is still a relevant issue and that the current downtrend in employment rates is, at best, temporary. According to the Appeal, a statement released by national nursing groups speaks to this issue: "Diminishing the pipeline of future nurses may put the health of many Americans at risk, particularly those from rural and underserved communities, and leave our health care delivery system unprepared to meet the demand for essential nursing services."
