Health Care Coalition Launches Website to Educate Public

The New York Times Prescription blog reports that a coalition of health care and advocacy groups has launched a website to help Americans better understand how the health care law will affect their access to care. The site, called healthcareandyou.org, aims to minimize the confusion that many Americans have about the changes that will take place as the law is phased in through 2014. AARP has joined with the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Catholic Health Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association. According to AARP’s Executive Vice President for Social Impact Nancy LeaMond, the website was launched to give consumers “simple, straightforward information” about the new health care legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
