Funding “Variety Pack” Supports Nursing Education

NurseZone.com reports that with the passing of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, nursing students now have, in addition to private resources, federal dollars to support their education.
The Affordable Care Act provides an important opportunity for education capacity and progression because it “supports funds for nursing faculty loan programs,” which offer substantial financial assistance to repay education loans to nurses willing to work full-time at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses or as faculty at an eligible school of nursing.”
Other sources of funding include scholarships or loans at the state level such as incentive programs; professional association scholarships, many of which are tailored to special fields; and employers such as hospital systems that view providing grants or scholarships as an investment in their future workforce. Recipients are asked to commit to working in the system or a particular hospital a specific period of time; a win-win situation for all. Learn more about.
