Eileen M. Sullivan-Marx, PhD, CRNP, FAAN Named 2010-2011 Health and Aging Policy Fellow

The Health and Aging Policy Fellows Program partners with the Healthy Aging Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to identify professionals viewed as change agents who can affect policy that will improve the health care outcomes for older Americans.
Eileen Sullivan-Marx, PhD, CRNP, FAAN, Associate Professor of Scholarly Practice and Associate Dean for Practice & Community Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and the Shearer Endowed Term Chair in Healthy Community Practice, is one such change agent. She leads research efforts to improve functional outcomes of older adults in community and institutional settings. Under Sullivan-Marx’ leadership, the Living Independently For Elders (LIFE), a PACE program providing comprehensive integrated health and social services for older adults in West Philadelphia, has been recognized as an Edge Runner [link to Edge runner site] program by the American Academy of Nursing. She was also appointed by Governor Rendell to serve as chair of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Senior Care and Services Study Commission through 2025.
