Deadline Extended for Applications for Participation in Mass General's AgeWISE Program

Nurses at Massachusetts General Hospital have been engaged in a multigenerational nurse residency program in geropalliative care for the past three years. Because the nursing staff and administrators believe this program provides cutting-edge care for frail older adults, they are inviting colleagues in the field to join them in making this type of care available to more Americans. This will be a multi-phase project.
Criteria for Participation:
Applications are solicited from all interested organizations. An ideal participating organization would
satisfy all of the following eligibility requirements:
- An academic medical center strongly affiliated with a college of nursing
- An organization holds both Magnet and NICHE designations (preferred)
- Has an ELNEC Trainer on the Core Faculty Team
- Provides Palliative Care Services within the hospital setting
- Has a doctorally-prepared nurse as Site Director appointed for the duration of the project
- Offers the capacity to carry out two successive six-month residencies, involving 10 nurses in each cohort on one or two selected pilot units
- Can provide requisite data for programmatic evaluation (i.e., NDNQI, HCAHPS, etc.)
- Is willing to act as a regional resource in further dissemination
- Has the capacity to engage in transformative learning

Application Process
- An application from your organization may be submitted by mail or by email. Please include:
- A letter of interest describing (1) why your organization is interested in participating, (2) your
- organization’s capacity for transformative learning, and (3) how your organization may be able to
- help others in your geographic region (3-page limit)
- A description of your organization (1 page)
- A letter of commitment from your organization’s chief nursing officer, indicating organizational
- support of the project and subsequent dissemination activities (1 page)
- A biosketch or CV for your organization’s team Site Director, Site Coordinator, and Nurse Researcher Liaison
