AHA Names Pam Thompson Senior Vice President for Nursing

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has named Pamela A. Thompson, MS, RN, CENP, FAAN, AHA senior vice president for nursing. In addition to this new role, Thompson will continue to maintain her current duties as AONE chief executive officer. AONE is a subsidiary of AHA.

In her new role, Thompson will lead a coordinated internal team effort on workforce issues impacting health care organizations. As AONE CEO, Thompson represents nurse leaders on a number of initiatives including healthful practice workforce environments, quality and safety, and the design of future patient care delivery via the nationally-recognized Transforming Care at the Bedside initiative. She currently serves as chair of the board of the National Patient Safety Foundation.

Thompson represents AONE on the Champion Nursing Council.
