Future of Nursing Strategic Advisory Committee Chair Blogs: “Nurses Important to Transforming Health Care”

In this blog to mark National Nurses Week, Sheila Burke, BSN, MPA, chair of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, writes that nurses are, and will be, critical players in the evolving U.S. health care system. Burke wants to make sure that nurses, who she says, have always been dedicated to "seamless, accessible, affordable and equitable care for all American," remain central to the provision of this care. As chair of The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, she is working with other stakeholders to ensure that nurses are "integrally involved in health care change." The Campaign for Action, organized by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in collaboration with AARP, was launched in November 2010, following the release of the Institute of Medicine report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. It involves a coalition of health care professionals from all spectrums, including state and local policy makers, nurse leaders and nursing organizations, and consumers. Read the entire blog here.
