The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has recently released a call for proposals for its Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education program. This new round of grants will support evaluations of interventions that expand teaching capacity or promote faculty recruitment and retention in nursing schools. The program aims to increase the number of nursing school graduates by evaluating strategies that address the nurse faculty shortage.

DOL Makes $220 Million Available for Programs that Prepare Workers for Careers in the Health Care Industry (www.dol.gov)

The Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (DOL ETA) has published a Notice of Availability of Funds and Solicitation for Grant Applications for Health Care and Other High Growth and Emerging Industries. The purpose of the high growth and emerging industries grants is to teach workers the necessary skills for, and help them pursue careers in, health care and other high growth and emerging industry sectors.

HHS Announces $13.4 Million in Financial Assistance to Support Nurses

Two programs administered by Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA): the Nurse Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP) and the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) will manage the programs that will provide for loan repayments to nurses who agree to practice in facilities with critical shortages and for schools of nursing to provide loans to students who will become nurse faculty.

HRSA Announces 2009 Division of Nursing Technical Assistance Workshops

Enrollment for the Nursing Technical Assistance Workshops (TAW) is now open.

The dates and locations for the TAWs are as follows:

September 10 - 11, 2009 in Rockville, MD
September 28 - 29, 2009 in Denver, CO

Participants are invited to attend either workshop. Registration for both meetings can be completed through the TAW website. To eliminate errors or problems and to insure the accuracy of your registration, copy and paste the URL below into your browser address bar.
