The Competency Model Dialogue
Welcome to all who are participating in the Competency model and Gap Analysis video and discussions. I hope that you find the program informative and beneficial to your work in the education transformation needed to increase the supply of baccalaureate and higher degree prepared nurses. Following your review of the program, we encourage you to post comments, examples of your progress and any questions that you have on the community page of the Campaign for Action website. During the week of January 14, I will be monitoring the dialogue and answering any questions that you may have. This will provide another opportunity for shared learning and dialogue about this model. I will provide responses within 24 hours of the posting.
In addition, a number of additional background resources have been posted on the site to support you in your work
Examples of general questions I have encountered as I work with states across the country in this effort include:
- Who should be our partners in the competency model development and Gap Analysis?
- How long does it take to do the Gap Analysis?
- What competencies are we being asked to use
These are some of the most common questions I have found as nursing programs and their practice partners become engaged in this process. Please feel free to share your questions and let us know if there are any additional resources that will assist you in your journey. Each state is progressing at it’s own pace but we are all striving for the same goal of a more highly educated nursing workforce. I look forward to our conversations!
